O Christmas Tree

A Cup Filled With Ancestral Winter Magic

Today’s tea came with a built-in soundtrack. The moment I opened the packet—“Christmas Tree” from Whittard—I could practically hear a German choir humming in the background.

The blend is a festive trio of citrus, clove, and vanilla, and from the very first inhale, it felt like stepping into the heart of an old-world Christmas market—warm, spiced, fragrant, glowing with traditions older than the ornaments on our modern trees.

And that’s fitting, because Germany is the birthplace of the Christmas tree tradition as we know it today. Long before twinkling lights and shiny baubles, evergreen trees were brought indoors as symbols of life in the dead of winter—reminders that even during the darkest months, the spirit remains evergreen.

So sipping this tea today felt beautifully ancestral… as if I’d been invited into a candlelit wood cottage somewhere in the Black Forest, with snow falling softly outside and a warm mug placed into my hands by someone wearing cozy wool socks.

The German “Tannenbaum”—the original Christmas tree—was a symbol of hope, endurance, light in the darkness and the promise that nature always returns

This tea captures all of that with its bright citrus, warm clove, and sweet vanilla.

But today we’re not just drinking flavors.  In my house, as you've discovered by now, we’re having tea with personality and always a few characters.

So citrus, clove, and vanilla, they're not just ingredients in this blend, They're siblings, three personalities from the same fragrant family, each bringing their own energy to the holiday table.

Meet Citrus — The Eldest Brother

He bursts into the room bright, cheerful and loud in the best possible way. The sibling who insists everyone open gifts early “just one, come on!” He brings mood elevation and a ray of sunshine to gloomy winter mornings.

Energetically, citrus:

  • lifts the spirit

  • breaks stagnation

  • brightens the aura

He’s winter’s answer to seasonal blues.

Clove — The Middle Brother

He is completely different from his sunny older sibling. Clove is deep, warm and serious.
Clove walks in wearing a long wool coat and carrying stones in his pockets.

Clove brings:

  • protection

  • warmth

  • grounding

He's the guardian, the old soul of the blend.

Vanilla — The Little Sister

Soft, golden and sweet, she smooths over everything the brothers do. Drama? She dissolves it. Rough edges? She melts them.

Vanilla brings:

  • comfort

  • emotional softness

  • a sense of “you’re safe here”

The nurturing glue of the trio, s
he lights the candles and gently keeps the peace.

This tea warms the chest, softens the belly, brightens the mind, and settles the spirit. It brings that unmistakable comfort of old traditions and standing near a freshly decorated tree — even if the decorations are already put away or you’re drinking it long after December, like I am on this day.

  • As I finished the last sip, the tea sang this message: “Traditions stay alive because you carry them. Light the tree in your heart."

Here’s to evergreen magic and the cozy glow of citrus, clove, and vanilla dancing together in the cup, because every day can feel like Christmas in your heart.
